About

Marty Cagan is one of the most recognised authorities in product management, currently serving as a partner at Silicon Valley Product Group, the firm he co-founded to help technology companies build products customers actually love. With more than four decades of experience across the industry, he has worked with everything from venture-backed startups to Fortune 500 enterprises, helping them shift from feature factories into outcome-focused product organisations.

His earlier career includes senior product roles at eBay, where he served as Senior Vice President of Product and Design, alongside leadership positions at Netscape Communications, Continuous Software, and Hewlett-Packard. That combination of enterprise and frontier-tech experience gives his teaching a particular weight, drawing on patterns observed across hundreds of product organisations rather than the experience of any single company.

Cagan is the author of two of the most widely read product management books in the industry, both published by Wiley. Inspired: How To Create Tech Products Customers Love has become required reading across product organisations globally, and Transformed: Moving to the Product Operating Model offers the practical guidance leaders need to shift from project-based to genuine product-based ways of working. Both titles are part of the ExpertEdge book to course catalogue, transformed into structured video lessons, modular reading and assessments designed for enterprise LMS deployment.

His current work centres on the discipline of product leadership, including the coaching practices, organisational structures and decision-making patterns that distinguish companies that genuinely build for customers from those that simply ship features. For senior leaders running product transformation programmes, his ExpertEdge titles offer the depth that experienced audiences trust, particularly relevant in the context of building the B2B learning content stack for senior populations.
